FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Sophomore Mariel Mencia Martinez and newcomer Gillian Manning each captured a pair of event titles, while sophomore Nathalia Silva got in on the action as well, as the No. 22 UNC Pembroke swimming team claimed its second event title in less than 24 hours by claiming its perch atop the field at Saturday's Emmanuel Senior Day Winter Meet inside the Shaw Aquatic Center.
 
Mencia Martinez won both the 50- and 100-yard Freestyle events, Silva topped the field in the 1,650-Yard Freestyle and Manning cruised her way to crowns in the 200-Yard Freestyle and the 100-Yard Butterfly. Her time of 1:51.46 in the 200-Yard Freestyle marked her fifth individual school-record performance of the campaign, as well as the fifth time this season she has recorded an NCAA B Standard qualifying time in an event.
 
Manning and Silva teamed up with sophomore Sarah Morden and freshman Caterina Coughlin to win Saturday's running of the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay event as well.
 
Sophomore Natalia Sarmiento finished runner-up in the 1,650-Yard Freestyle, while freshman Paige Seplak was second in the 100-Yard Backstroke, to fuel UNCP's win on Saturday as well.

The Black & Gold, which edged No. 26 Emmanuel by 30 points (412-382) to win Friday's event, was 56 points (481-425) better than the Lions on Saturday. Brenau was a distant third, Point was fourth and Lagrange was fifth.
 
The Braves will be back in action again on January 30 when they make the short trip to Murfreesboro to battle Chowan. The first race is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside the Bynum Brown Aquatic Center.
