TORONTO – Akia Pruitt, the 2019-20 Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year and a key player on the UNC Pembroke men's basketball team's run to a trio of conference regular season titles and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, has been named to the training camp roster for Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors.
 
Raptors 905 opened training camp on Monday at Paramount Fine Foods Centre in preparation for 2021-22 season. The 905 will play a 12-game Showcase Cup schedule beginning November 11 when it faces the Westchester Knicks. The schedule is highlighted by back-to-back games, January 15-17, with the 2021 G League Champions, Lakeland Magic, at home.
 
Pruitt, the Peach Belt Conference's all-time leading rebounder, played in 126 games (122 starts) over his collegiate career and averaged 12.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.1 assists per game, The Winston-Salem native shot betters than 51 percent over his time in the Black & Gold, and amassed 1,613 points and 1,011 rebounds. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2016-17 PBC Tournament, and went on to rake in a trio of all-conference honors, two all-district nods and the 2017-18 PBC Defensive Player of the Year laurel.
