No. 16 Baseball Takes Both Ends Of Double Dip At Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The 16th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team pounded out 36 hits and scored 33 times on the way to finishing off a weekend sweep of Augusta on Saturday at Jaguar Field. The Braves registered a 14-3 win over the Jaguars in the opener of the twinbill, before posting a 19-3 victory in the Saturday nightcap.
 
The results gave the Black & Gold (22-5, 18-3 PBC) a record fifth Peach Belt Conference weekend sweep in 2021, while also pushing the win streak for the Braves out to 14 games – the longest single-season win streak in the history of the program, and the longest since the Black & Gold bridged the 2009 and 2010 campaigns with 16-straight wins. The Jaguars (4-20, 3-19) have dropped eight-straight contests, including five by double digits.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
TOP 1 The Braves loaded the bases with their first four at-bats, and Bobby Dixon drove in a run on a hard-hit ball up the middle.
TOP 2 UNCP sent nine batters to the plate in a 5-run second inning to signal the rout. Spencer Faulkner and River Ryan registered consecutive one-out RBI singles, and Bobby Dixon drove in two more on single down the right field line. Ramsey Petty produced the final score of the inning on a two-out single to the gap in right field.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 2 The Braves sent a dozen batters to the plate in a 6-hit, 9-run frame that gave them the lead for good, while also fueling the second rout of the afternoon. Trevor Clemons (single) and River Ryan (double) drove in multiple runs in their at-bats, while Bobby Dixon hit a 2-run blast to centerfield.

UP NEXT
The Braves will open up a seven-game home stand on Saturday and Sunday when they suit up to battle Francis Marion (12-11, 10-11 PBC) in a three-game set at Sammy Cox Field. The squads will open the series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
