PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team scored multiple runs in back to back innings of game one and tallied seven hits to fuel a 7-0 victory of the opening contest against Lander on Friday afternoon at the UNCP Softball Field. The Braves secured the senior day sweep with a 4-3 victory in the back half of the doubleheader.
The victories for the Braves (
24-12, 12-6 PBC) finished the home portion of their schedule with a 10-6 record and marked the first sweep of Lander since the 2016 season. The setback for the Bearcats
(15-21, 2-16 PBC) extended their losing streak to five games and fall to 0-8 when playing away from Greenwood, S.C.

Madison Dyson drew a six-pitch leadoff walk and advanced to third on a single to the outfield from Rendi Wetherington. The Brave loaded the bases after Wetherington stole second and Mary Sells reached on an error. Jordan Adcox smacked a double to right field to score the first two runs of the game. A sacrifice fly from Tatum Brummitt plated Sells and put the Braves on top 3-0. |

UNCP put runners on first and second after a single from Emily Biddle and a walk from Madison Dyson. Rendi Wetherington sent a three-run blast over the left field fence to put the Braves ahead 6-0. |
