AUGUSTA, GA. – The UNC Pembroke softball team allowed just one hit in game one and pounded out eight hits to cruise to a 9-0 victory in six innings against Augusta on Sunday afternoon at Jaguar Field. The Braves captured the sweep with a 6-2 victory in the back half of the doubleheader. 
 
The victories for the Braves (26-12, 14-6 PBC) helped secure a spot in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Jaguars (14-24, 8-12 PBC) have now lost their last five contests.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
TOP 5	Lauren Hilbourn started the inning with a single to right field and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. The Braves used three doubles in a row from Emily Biddle, Alex Watkins, and Lily Schroeder to score two runs, before Rendi Wetherington sent one out of the park to put UNCP ahead 7-0.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 3	Augusta put runners on first and second after singles from Jakayla Sullivan and Lindsey South. An ill-timed throwing error put Summer Frye on second and scored two runs to give Augusta a 2-1 lead.
TOP 5	Lily Schroeder drew a walk and advanced to second after a sacrifice hit from Rendi Wetherington. Mary Sells smacked a RBI double to left field to score Schroeder. Jordan Adcox kept the inning going with an RBI single to right field and to put UNCP on top 4-2.
TOP 7	Tatum Brummitt knocked a double to right field and advanced to third. Alex Watkins beat out an infield single to score Brummitt. The Braves loaded the bases after Lauren Hilbourn drew a walk and Madison Dyson was hit by a pitch. UNCP tacked on an extra insurance run after Rendi Wetherington drew a walk.

UP NEXT

The Braves will be one of four teams to compete in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Black & Gold will await the results from the North Georgia vs. Columbus State matchup to determine their opponent.
