Soccer Uses Second Half Goals In Victory Over North Greenville

PEMBROKE – Rilee Seering's goal in the 64th minute of action gave the UNC Pembroke soccer team a lead that it would not relinquish as the Braves defeated North Greenville, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.
 
The result marked the third-straight win for the Braves (4-3-0, 4-0-0 CC) who have now captured both meetings with North Greenville as well. The setback snapped a two-game win streak for the Crusaders (3-3-2, 2-1-0 CC) who were handed their first league loss of the season as well. 
 
SCORING SUMMARY
64' Anna Grossheim passed to Rilee Seering who rifled a shot into the back of the net for the first goal of the game
71' Alexis Pittman's ball through the defense found Ilaya Bigford who chipped it over the end line
 
TOP BRAVES
+Rilee Seering attempted a career-high 12 shots, including four on target. Seering's goal was her first game-winning goal of the season, as well as her team-leading fifth goal of the campaign.
+ Ilaya Bigford recorded her second goal of the season in 21 minutes of action.
+ Anna Grossheim has now scored at least one point (goal or assist) in each of the last three contests.  
+ Chiara Coppin registered her third clean sheet of the season. 
 
NOTABLES
+ UNC Pembroke attempted a season-high 31 shots. The last time the Braves registered more than 30 shots was a 32-shot performance against Barton in 2019.
+ UNCP held a 31-11 advantage in shots on Saturday. The Braves tallied just10 shots on goal, however, while the Crusaders logged three shots on target.
 
 
UP NEXT
The Braves will step out of conference play on Monday when they welcome Shaw (1-4) to Pembroke. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Lumbee River EMC Stadium. Admission to all home UNCP Soccer games is free.
