PEMBROKE – Leonie Proessl followed a blocked shot and found the back of the net in the 42
nd minute for the only goal No. 13 Lenoir-Rhyne would need as the Bears held off the UNC Pembroke soccer team for a 2-0 victory on Saturday evening at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.
It was the second-straight season-opening loss for the Braves (0-1-0) who were picked to finish second in their first season as a member of Conference Carolinas. The Bears (1-0-0), who were an overwhelming pick to capture the South Atlantic Conference title this season, have now won two-straight in the series with the Black & Gold.
