No. 20 Men’s Basketball Too Much For Visiting Francis Marion

PEMBROKE – Jordan Ratliffe's 3-pointer just 23 seconds into the contest gave the 20th-ranked UNC Pembroke men's basketball team a lead it would not relinquish as the Braves used a season-high 12 3-pointers to power past Francis Marion, 84-71, on Thursday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

It was the seventh-straight victory for the Braves (11-1, 8-1 CC) who have now captured eight of the last nine meetings in the series with their I-95 counterparts. Francis Marion, in turn, missed its first 11 field goal attempts. Regardless, the Patriots pulled to within six points, 33-27, on a 3-pointer from Tionne Rollins with 2:52 to play, but the Braves threw up 11 of the game's next 16 points to extend its lead back out to a dozen points, 44-32. The hosts eventually took a 44-34 lead into the intermission.
2ND HALF
Francis Marion sliced its deficit down to single digits, 53-44, on Ja'Lil Robinson's 3-pointer with 14:06 left to play, but the Braves scored six-straight points after that and led by double digits the rest of the way out. A pair of free throws from Jordan Ratliffe at the 7:29 mark capped a 12-4 run that gave the hosts their largest lead of the night, 76-55.
