PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team matched a season-best 13 service aces and forced Belmont Abbey into 20 total attack errors on the way to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-21) victory over the Crusaders on Friday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.
The Braves (17-13, 14-2 CC) have now won the last three meetings with the Crusaders (6-25, 3-13 CC) and improve to 9-6 all-time. The victory also helped the Black & Gold to its sixth straight victory when playing in Pembroke.

UNC Pembroke jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the opening set with a kill from Taylor Osborne. Belmont Abbey scored four straight points to trim their deficit to 11-10, but the Braves put together a 11-5 scoring run to extend their lead for good. |

The hosts got a quick start again taking a 14-9 lead with an ill-timed Crusader attack error. UNCP hit .219 from the net and used six consecutive points to push their lead out to 21-11. |

A Shannon Skryd kill sparked the offense and started a 5-1 scoring surge to give UNC Pembroke a 10-6 lead. Belmont Abbey rattled off the straight points to knot the score at 21 apiece, but the hosts hit a game-best .241 from the net and scored the final four points of the match. |
