HOW IT HAPPENED |
1ST QUARTER |
Concord struck first on their second possession of the afternoon, capping an 8-play, 65-yard drive with Jack Mangel's 8-yard strike to Kris Copeland. Thurlow Wilkins also did his part on the drive, carrying the ball five times for 22 yards. CU 7, UNCP 0

2ND QUARTER |
The Braves bridged the first and second quarters with a 16-play, 48-yard drive that milked more than eight minutes off of the scoreboard. UNCP set itself up with a 1st-and-Goal opportunity from the 8-yard line, but ultimately settled for a 22-yard field goal from Alex Alvarado. CU 7, UNCP 3
Concord answered back immediately, needing just two plays to drive 75 yards and make it a two-score game. Jack Mangel connected with Jarod Bowie for 58 yards on the opening play of the possession, and then hooked up with Bowie on a 17-yard touchdown pass moments later. CU 14, UNCP 3
The Mountain Lions took over near midfield on their next possession, and added their final points of the opening half with a 5-play, 56-yard touchdown drive. Jack Mangel converted a key 3rd-and-20 situation with a 54-yard pass to Jarod Bowie, and Thurlow Wilkins capped the possession with a 3-yard scoring dive. CU 21, UNCP 3
The Braves answered on the ensuing possession and tacked up their first touchdown of the evening on a 1-yard dive by Josh Jones. Jones was 3-for-3 for 61 yards on the drive, including 31- and 23-yard passes on consecutive downs. CU 21, UNCP 3
UNCP held Concord to just four yards on the ensuing drive, to set itself up in good field position again. Josh Jones connected on all three of his pass attempts for 31 yards, while also rushing for another eight yards, before Zechariah Adams-Duckson took it into the end zone from two yards away. The Braves got their final possession of the opening stanza with 26 seconds left, but still made it count. Josh Jones found Jai'Veon Smalls for a 28-yard gainer to move the ball down to the 25-yard line, and Alex Alvarado hit a field goal from 42 yards away as time expired to make it a one-point game heading into intermission. 3RD QUARTER |
The Braves kept the momentum going with the opening possession for either team in the second half, driving 53 yards on 12 plays to take their first lead of the contest. Josh Jones carried the ball six times for 36 yards, while also throwing for 16 yards on 3-for-3 passing, but it was Alex Alvarado's 29-yard field goal that delivered the damage. UNCP 23, CU 21
Concord stormed back in front on the ensuing possession, capping a 7-play, 75-yard scoring drive with Jack Mangel's 21-yard touchdown pass to Mack Simmons. Mangel completed two passes for 49 yards, but it was a critical pass interference call on a 3rd down play midway through the drive that keyed the outcome. CU 28, UNCP 23
The Braves continued to keep pace, culminating the ensuing possession with a 31-yard field goal from Alex Alvarado. Josh Jones threw for 48 yards on 4-of-5 passing on the scoring drive, while JaQuan Kelly ran four times for 11 yards. CU 28, UNCP 26
Concord capped the third-quarter scoring moments later, capping a 3-play, 50-yard scoring drive that needed just 73 seconds to complete, with Jack Mangel's 7-yard touchdown pass to Solomon Butler. The drive was fueled by Mangel's 36-yard completion to Jarod Bowie early in the possession. The point-after attempt, however, sailed wide left. CU 34, UNCP 26

4TH QUARTER |
Concord made it a two-score lead midway through the fourth period when Jack Mangel finished off a 9-play, 60-yard touchdown drive with a one-yard scoring dive. Thurlow Wilkins carried the ball four times for 38 yards, while also hauling in an eight-yard pass that set the Mountain Lions up with a 1st-and-Goal opportunity at the 1-yard line. CU 41, UNCP 26
Josh Jones attempted a pass on all seven plays of the ensuing possession, completing four passes for 53 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown strike to C.J. Davis. The drive was ultimately fueled by a 33-yard catch by C.J. Davis on a 4th-and-10 situation. CU 41, UNCP 33
The Braves sent the game into overtime with a 12-play, 80-yard touchdown drive that took just 1:41 off of the scoreboard clock. Josh Jones was sacked twice for a loss of 21 yards on the possession, but countered by throwing for 93 yards on 6-of-7 passing before scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run. CU 41, UNCP 41 |

1ST OVERTIME |
A 15-yard penalty on the opening play of the possession drove the Braves back to the 38-yard line, but Josh Jones followed with consecutive passes to C.J. Davis, including a 30-yard touchdown reception in the back of the end zone. UNCP 48, CU 41
An 11-yard run by Kris Copeland put the Mountain Lions in a 1st-and-Goal situation at the 3-yard line, and Jack Mangel tied the game back up on a 3-yard run to the right side. UNCP 48, CU 48 |

2ND OVERTIME |
Thurlow Wilkins ran for eight and 16 yards on the first two plays of the possession, and then ultimately finished it off with a 1-yard touchdown dive up the middle. The ensuing 2-point conversion pass was intercepted by D'Andre Ferguson. CU 54, UNCP 48
An ill-timed holding call pushed UNCP back to the 34-yard line, but Josh Jones hooked up with C.J. Davis again, evening up the game again on a 34-yard touchdown reception. CU 54, UNCP 54 |

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE |
+ Senior Josh Jones broke single game records for both total offense and passing yards with a gutsy performance under center that saw him throw for 459 yards and three touchdowns on 35-of-48 passing, while also registering 29 rushing yards and an additional score on 21 carries.
+ Redshirt junior C.J. Davis logged career bests for receptions (11), receiving yards (175) and touchdown receptions (3). His 175-yard night marked the fourth-best receiving night in program history, and marked the most receiving yards for a UNCP player in more than six seasons. His 3-TD effort matched a school record, and marked the most touchdown receptions for the program in more than seven years.
+ Redshirt freshman wide receiver Trey Chavis notched career highs for both receptions (8) and receiving yards (123). He also snagged a 2-point conversion pass in the fourth overtime period. |
