WINGATE – Augusta hit .225 from the and tallied nine service aces on the way to a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-25) victory over the UNC Pembroke volleyball team on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament.
The Braves (21-14) have now finished two consecutive seasons with 20 or more wins and were an impressive 15-2 when playing on their home court. Augusta (25-7) has now won the last three meetings against UNCP.

The Braves hit .222 from the net and used a five-point run to take a 23-17 lead. The Jaguars hit just .027 from the net and were forced into seven total attack errors, and UNCP scored the final two points of the set with a kill from Brianna Warren and Shannon Skryd. |
SET 3 I 22-25 |
Three consecutive points pushed the UNCP lead out to 11-7 capped off with blocks from Morgan Gibbs and Erin O'Donnell. Augusta knotted the score at 12 apiece with a block, and closed the set out on a 5-2 run to take control of set three. |
SET 4 I 15-25 |
The Jaguars got a quick start taking a 10-3 lead with a service ace from Samantha Zittrauer. Augusta hit a game-best .414 from the net and took the lead for good on a 5-0 scoring surge. |
