PEMBROKE - The UNC Pembroke softball team pounded out 10 hits, including four for extra bases, to help secure a 13-2 victory over visiting Fayetteville State in 5 innings of game one on Thursday afternoon at the UNCP Softball Field. The Braves secured a twinbill sweep with a 7-2 victory in the nightcap highlighted by a four-run fourth inning.
The victory for the Braves marked the first series sweep of the 2022 season, as well as the 17
th straight victory over Fayetteville State. The setback for the Broncos (1-3) snapped a one-game winning streak.

Carson Powell reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a single to left field from Marijo Wilkes. Both runners advanced a based on the next pitch. Tatum Brummitt beat out an infield single to score Powell. Powell and Brummitt each scored on back to back wild pitches. MaKenna Sibbett (double) and Lauren Hilbourn (triple) logged two of the four hits during the frame to help put UNCP ahead 8-0. |
