No. 9 Men’s Basketball Muscles Past Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. – The 9th-ranked UNC Pembroke men's basketball team converted on 50 percent of its field goal attempts or better for the third-straight game, and took the lead for good on Jordan Ratliffe's 3-pointer just 7-1/2 minutes into the contest as the Braves ran their school record road win streak out to double digits with a 91-72 triumph at Erskine on Saturday.

It was the 10th-straight road win for the Braves (23-2, 19-2 CC) who have not tasted defeat away from Pembroke since an 82-72 setback at Emmanuel on November 23. It was the third consecutive loss for the Flying Fleet (4-23, 4-19) who fell to 2-10 inside Belk Arena this season with the result as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST HALF
The Fleet went toe-to-toe with the Braves for the first 7-1/2 minutes of play, and led 11-9 following a driving layup from Jalen Miller at the 12:35 mark. Jordan Ratliffe's trey on the ensuing possession would give the Black & Gold the lead for good, however. Deon Berrien's layup with 7:27 left before the intermission signaled a 12-2 run for the visitors that helped them distance themselves, as well as fuel a 41-32 lead heading into the locker rooms.
2ND HALF
UNCP shot better than 61 percent from the field in the second half and had padded its lead and strung together a 14-2 run in the early goings of the second stanza to pad its lead out to 21 points, 59-38, by the 14-minute mark. Erskine whittled its deficit down to just a dozen points after a pair of free throws from Kaleb Brooks with 7:25 to play, but the Braves tacked up nine of the next 11 points to dispel any rumors of a late-game comeback.
