Series Notes
The Braves have captured all six previous matchups in the series with Coker, including a 4-0 mark on the road against the Cobras. Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between the two squads since Nov. 27, 2018, and the first time the duo has met in Pembroke since Feb. 6, 2018.
Scouting Report: UNC Pembroke
  • The Braves (4-6, 2-1 SACC) have captured three out of their last four matchups, and have now tacked up two-straight victories after Monday evening's 36-8 rout of Emmanuel. UNCP raked in eight individual victories in that outing, including five bonus-point wins.
  • Redshirt sophomore Zach Shaffer has racked up 21 victories already in the heavyweight division for the Black & Gold, and tacked up his fifth-straight win in Monday's dual with Emmanuel. Redshirt sophomore Rahsaan Vereen ranks second on the squad with 15 wins this season at 165 pounds, and will enter the weekend having won three of his last four bouts.
Scouting Report: Belmont Abbey
  • The Crusaders (7-4, 4-0 SACC) posted a 1-2 record at the Shippensburg Duals on January 29, opening the event with a 24-17 win over Millersville before falling to both Mercyhurst (30-14) and Gannon (31-12). Belmont Abbey has won all four of its conference matchups this season, including three wins by four points or fewer.
  • Senior Mitch Dean is ranked ninth, nationally, at 157 pounds, and will bring a 10-3 record into the weekend, including a current five-match win streak. Freshman Elijah Boyd has tasted defeat just twice this season at 133 pounds, and will ride a four-match win streak into Saturday.
Scouting Report: Coker
  • The Cobras (3-4, 1-4 SACC) have now dropped three-straight matches following a 21-19 setback at Newberry on January 29. Coker took the first two bouts of that dual meet, and led 19-15 following Omar Amengol's decision, but seventh-ranked Isaiah Royal registered a first-period pin in the final matchup of the evening to fuel the outcome.
  • Senior P.J. Wunderlich is 4-1 against league competition this season and will ride a three-match win streak into Saturday. Wunderlich has already experienced success at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court this season after rattling off four-straight wins on the way to capturing the 157-pound tournament at the Pembroke Classic in November.
