PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team tallied five extra base hits and recorded just one error in the field to get back on track with a key twinbill sweep over Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon at the UNCP Softball Field. The Braves scored multiple runs in three innings of game one to hold onto a 10-7 victory, and completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory in game two of the doubleheader.
The victories for the Braves (13-7, 2-2 CC) marked the first two wins as members of Conference Carolinas. The setback for the Bobcats (7-15, 1-3 CC) snapped a short one-game winning streak.

UNC Pembroke loaded the bases after a single from Mary Sells and walks from Tatum Brummitt and Jordan Adcox. Emily Biddle cleared the bases with a triple to the right centerfield gap, and scored on a single from Samantha Allred to put UNCP ahead 4-2. |

Samantha Allred got the inning started for the Braves with a double to the outfield grass. Madison Carriker singled to left field to advance Allred 60 feet. Lauren Hilbourn smacked a single to center field to score Allred and Carriker to give UNCP a 6-3 lead. |

Lees-McRae put runners on the corners from singles by Rylie Webster and Julie Gast. Hannah Foster reached on an ill-timed fielding error to score Webster, but Emma Jackson knocked a two-run triple to deep center field as the Bobcats trailed 10-6. Lees-McRae picked up one more run or a single from Lauren Ritchie, but that would be the end of the rally. |
