WINGATE – The UNC Pembroke softball team used hits from nine different players and recorded 20 hits between two games to split a non-conference twinbill with Wingate on Wednesday afternoon at the Wingate Softball Complex.
The Braves used a fifth inning rally with a big homerun from newcomer
Samantha Allred, but fell just short, 5-4 in the opening game. A career-high strikeout night from
Madison Dyson and two home runs helped the Black & Gold secure a split of the series with a 11-5 victory in game two.

Hannah Reeves singled down the left field line and advanced to third when Sydney Kale doubled down the left field line. Danielle Kirchhofer found the outfield grass for a single for the Bulldogs to add two more runs and take a 4-1 lead. |

UNC Pembroke put runners on first and second to start the inning, but Lauren Hilbourn sent the fourth pitch she saw over the center field fence for a three-run blast. Emily Rose followed suit and sent one out of the park for a solo homer. Mary Sells beat out an infield single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the shortstop. Back to back singles from Tatum Brummitt and Jordan Adcox capped off the six hit and five run inning to give UNCP an early lead. |

Savannah Lampley doubled down the right field line and scored on a single up the middle from Savannah Swickard. Swickard advanced to second with a single through the left side from Sara Stroud. Savanna Brooks cleared the bases with a three-run homer to tie the score at 5-5. |

Jordan Adcox smacked a double down the left field line to score two runners for the Braves. Emily Biddle found the outfield grass for a 2 RBI single to put UNCP ahead 9-5. |
