RALEIGH – Joshua Chepkesir recorded a personal-best time and cruised to a 35
th place finish in the Division I-stacked 10,000-meter Run on Friday evening at the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
Chepkesir crossed the finish line in a time of 29:25.44 for a 35
th place finish out of the 133-man field in the event. The time for the Eldoret, Kenya, native marked the first NCAA provisional qualifying time for Chepeksir. The time for Chepkesir nearly broke the 40-year-old school record set by Gary Henry, who holds the school record in the event with a time of 28:47.00.
Aaron Las Heras, of Wake Forest, took home the event title with a time of 28:13.82. Las Heras also set a new facility record in the event.
