MOUNT OLIVE – Comfort Agwu broke a 14-year-old school record in the women's discus to highlight action Saturday at the Trojan Relays.
Agwu posted a mark of 43.64 meters to break the record set by Katherine Davis in 2011.
On the women's side, Janaya Davis-Gainer ran a personal-best 11.98 to take second in the 100m, while Kyleigh Pollock was third in the triple jump (11.65 meters) and fourth in the long jump (5.47 meters). Amanda Sacoto posted a personal-best mark of 11.81m to finish fourth in the shot put, while McKylee Mosby crossed in 1:09.54 to take fourth in the 400m hurdles and Ta'Niyah Glaspie ran a 12.27 to take fifth in the 100m to round out the top-five finishers.
On the men's side,
Eli Pineda crossed in 14.76 to take first in the 110m hurdles,
Quinten LeMay ran a personal-best 58.28 to finish third in the 400m hurdles, while
Jacobe Jones finished fourth in the 200m at 21.44.
Jaiden Hannah posted a mark of 1.92 meters to take fourth in the high jump, with
Kell Simpson taking fifth in the 400m hurdles at 58.46 to round out the top-five finishers.
The Braves combined to turn in 21 new personal bests at the event.
Both squads will now turn its attention to the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships, set for April 23-25. The three-day event will be held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
