Baseball Blisters Clarion In Series Opener

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke baseball team plated a season-high 20 runs on 14 hits and as many free passes behind an 11-strikeout performance from righthander Trystan Kimmel to cruise to a 20-6 victory over Clarion in Friday's series opener at Sammy Cox Field.
 
It was the eighth win in the last 10 outings for the Braves (11-5) who drew 10 walks on Friday, while also reaching base on four bean balls and a quartet of errors. The setback kept the Golden Eagles (0-7) winless on the campaign.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 1 UNCP set the tone early, scoring five times off of a trio of hits and an extremely untimely fielding error by the Golden Eagles. Bobby Dixon's RBI single gave the Black & Gold the lead for good, but a dropped fly ball minutes later loaded the bases for the hosts and set the table for a 3-run jack by Andrew Mills that gave the Braves a 5-0 advantage.
