Baseball Continues Scoring Explosion, Clinches Series With Clarion

PEMBROKE – Four players combined to belt five home runs on the way to a 20-run explosion for the second-straight day, and righthander Branden Kunz allowed just two hits in seven innings from the hill, to lead the UNC Pembroke baseball team to a weekend series-clinching 20-1 victory over Clarion on Saturday.
 
It was the fifth-straight win for the Braves (12-5) who have now tacked up victories in nine of their last 11 outings. The loss kept the Golden Eagles (0-8) winless on the 2022 campaign.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 4 The Braves already led 3-0, but tacked up seven more runs in the fourth inning to blow the game wide open. Spencer Faulkner hit a 2-run single with the bases juiced, while Ethan Ott (RBI single) and Gage Hammonds (3-run home run) followed with run-scoring at-bats as well. UNCP capped the scoring in the frame on a RBI single from Andrew Mills.
