Baseball Finishes Off Weekend Sweep Of Clarion

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke baseball team pounded out 15 hits, including a quartet of home runs, to finish off a weekend sweep of visiting Clarion with an 18-10 victory over the Golden Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.
 
It was the sixth-straight triumph for the Braves (13-5) who have now captured 10 of their last 12 outings as well. The loss kept Clarion (0-9) winless on the 2022 campaign.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 1 UNCP collected two hits and as many free passes on the way to tacking up four runs in the opening inning. Bobby Dixon gave the hosts the lead for good on a RBI single, and Christian Jayne made it a 3-0 contest with a 2-run single in the ensuing at-bat. A RBI groundout from Andrew Mills capped the scoring in the frame.
BOT 2 The Braves scratched the scoreboard for three more runs in the second, including a 2-run home run from Ethan Ott. Bobby Dixon's RBI double two batters later stretched the lead out to 7-0.
