Baseball Has Winning Skein Stopped At Catawba

SALISBURY – The UNC Pembroke baseball team took a quick lead on a 2-run blast from Bobby Dixon in the top of the first, but Catawba countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame, and used Luke Spiva's solo homer in the third to rally past the Braves, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Newman Park.
 
The loss snapped a six-game win streak for the Braves (13-6) who mustered just six hits on the afternoon and hit into a trio of double plays. The Indians (12-9) logged just five hits themselves, but still managed to win for the fourth time in their last five outings.

UNCP will jump back into Conference Carolinas play this weekend when it heads to Bristol, Tenn., for a Saturday/Sunday series at King (9-5, 6-2 CC). The squads will open up the series with a noon doubleheader on Saturday, and close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
