Soccer Stymies North Georgia In Season Lidlifter

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – All-American Anna Grossheim's 31st-minute goal gave the UNC Pembroke soccer team all of the offense it would need as the Braves rallied behind a 7-save performance from goalkeeper Chiara Coppin to key a 1-0 victory at North Georgia on Thursday afternoon.

The triumph stopped a two-game series losing streak for the Black & Gold (1-0-0) who also picked up its first win on the road in the series since a 3-2 conquest over the Nighthawks (0-1-0) on Oct. 31, 2009. Thursday's result also snapped a two-game skid in season openers for UNCP who improved to 13-8-0 in such contests.

SCORING SUMMARY
31' Naomi Fountain fed a pass to a wide-open Anna Grossheim near the top of the penalty area, and the sophomore chested the ball to her feet before connecting on a shot just inside the left post.
