Volleyball Wraps Up Action At Walk-On's UWF Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The UNC Pembroke hit .241 at the net across two games, but committed 35 total attack errors and fell in straight sets to No. 17 Lewis and Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday for the final day of the Walk-On's UWF Invitational inside the UWF Field House.
 
The setbacks for the Black & Gold marked the fifth straight loss this season. It also marked their eighth loss this season when playing away from Pembroke.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 28-30 Erin O'Donnell's kill sparked the offense to set the tone for a five point scoring run to take a 19-16 lead in the opening set. Lewis knotted the score at 26 with a kill from Bella Ray, while the Flyers hit .227 at the net to take the opening set.
SET 2 I 18-25 Bella Ray and Mikah Freppon teamed up at the net for a block to help the Flyers take a 20-13. UNCP struggled to get into an offensive rhythm hitting just .083 from the net, while Lewis his a game-best .457 to cruise to a second set victory. 
SET 3 I 17-25 Lewis took an early 11-4 lead with a kill from Farah Taki to start the set. The Black & Gold scored four straight points capped off with a kill from Vanja Przulj to cut the deficit back to 20-14. However, the Flyers hit .235 during the set limited the Braves to just six kills and a .031 hitting percentage for the final set.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-27 UNC Pembroke took a 22-15 lead with a service ace from Vanja Przulj in the opening set. Oklahoma Baptist scored six straight points trim their deficit to one point, and took advantage of the 11 UNCP attack errors to take the opening set. 
SET 2 I 11-25 The Bison got a quick start with a 15-7 lead off of an attack error from the Braves. Oklahoma Baptist hit a game-best .324 from the net to be in control of the second set.
SET 3 I 15-25 The Black & Gold rattled off three straight points, but trailed 11-10 with a block from Taylor Osborne. Oklahoma Baptist pushed their lead out to 19-12 with blocks from Avery Hellmuth and Audrey Poupard to halt a comeback from UNCP.

UP NEXT
The Braves will open up Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday when they make the short trip to Florence, S.C. to lock horns with Francis Marion (5-4, 0-0 CC). First serve in the Battle of I-95 is set for 7 p.m. inside the Smith University Center.
