Lumberton Visitors Bureau Partnership

Braves Partner With Lumberton Visitors Bureau

September 16, 2022

PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Friday afternoon that they have partnered with The Lumberton Visitors Bureau through the end of the 2024-25 athletics season in an effort to increase the department's presence at area community outreach events.

"We look forward to partnering with UNCP's athletics department to positively promote the Lumberton area as visiting teams come here for accommodations, dining and other needs while they are in our community," said Lumberton Tourism Development Authority Chairman Arnold West. "Sports Tourism is a growing segment of the travel industry, and we are excited to work with UNCP, the City of Lumberton and other entities in our area to develop and draw more events and people to our community."

Under terms of the multi-year relationship, the Lumberton Visitors Bureau will have increased presence at a multitude of UNCP home athletic events, including football, basketball, wrestling and volleyball home contests, as well as during live video streams on the UNCP Sports Network. The organization will also play a key role in the distribution of UNCP sports team schedule posters throughout the community in the coming weeks as well.

"As a Lumberton resident, I am proud of the city's proactive efforts to drive visitors to our area and identify the synergies that Braves Athletics can provide in this partnership," said athletics director Dick Christy.

The City of Lumberton takes pride in its contributions to the cultural and economic history of the region, and with strong citizen involvement, has been active in recent years in refurbishing its historic area. With its location at the midway point on Interstate 95 between Florida and New York, people are sure to pass through the City on their way to everywhere.
