Volleyball Makes Quick Work Of Visiting Chowan

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team recorded a season-best 13 service aces and matched a season-high with 11 total blocks on the way to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-12) victory over Chowan on Friday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 
 
The victory for the Braves (7-10, 4-1 CC) helped keep an unblemished record against Chowan in the 11-match series.  The Black & Gold also improved to 5-2 this season when playing in Pembroke.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-15 UNC Pembroke took an early 11-4 lead in the opening set with a kill from Morgan Gibbs, but Chowan halted the run with a 3-0 scoring run of their own. The Braves went on a 7-0 run to push their lead out to 19-9 on the way to winning the opening set.  
SET 2 I 25-18 The hosts used another quick start to take a 7-1 lead capped off with a service ace from Elise Martin. The Hawks chipped away at their deficit with a 5-0 run to take a slight 10-9 lead. However, six straight points to the Black & Gold pushed them back in front for good.
SET 3 I 25-12 A service ace from Erin O'Donnell gave UNCP a 13-6 lead in the final set. The Braves hit a game-best .316 from the net and won the final six points of the match to finalize the sweep.
