No. 8 Men’s Basketball Hits Century Mark, Blows Past Mount Olive

PEMBROKE – The 8th-ranked UNC Pembroke men's basketball team tacked up a season-best offensive night, fueled by a 72.7 percent shooting display in the first half as well as a 13-for-21 performance from the perimeter, as the Braves stretched their win streak out to 13 games with a 108-83 win over Mount Olive on Wednesday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

The triumph also helped the Black & Gold (20-1, 12-1 CC) match the 2021-22 squad for the best record in program history through 21 games, and handed Drew Richards his 50th victory as UNCP's skipper as well. The setback snapped a three-game win streak for Mount Olive (7-13, 5-7) who has now dropped seven of the last eight matchups in the series with the Braves.

2ND HALF
The Braves produced a more human-like 63-percent success rate from the field in the second stanza, including a 5-for-10 showing behind the arch, while also tallying a 15-for-17 performance from the charity stripe. The Trojans made it a two-possession game, 60-54, on Shane Peterson's layup just 3-1/2 minutes into the period, but UNCP answered with a 19-5 run over the next six minutes to stretch its lead out to double digits for good. Amare Miller's layup with just more than a minute left gave the hosts their largest lead of the evening, 106-80.
