No. 3 North Georgia Sweeps Softball In Twinbill

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia pounded out 22 hits and tallied three homers to help fuel a doubleheader sweep of the UNC Pembroke softball team on Saturday afternoon at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium. The Nighthawks limited the Braves to just one hit in the opening game for a 17-0 victory in five innings, and then capped off the sweep with a 3-0 victory in the back half of the doubleheader. 
 
The setback for the Braves (2-5) have now lost their last four games and fall to 3-33 all-time against North Georgia. The Nighthawks (8-1) have now won their last seven games and are a perfect 6-0 when playing at home.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 1 North Georgia put runners on first and second after two infield singles to start the inning. Sophie Mooney doubled to the right center field gap to plate two runs, followed by a Hannah Forehand homer to give the Nighthawks a 4-0 lead. The hosts put runners on first and second after a walk and a hit by pitch, but Gracie Mixson lit up the scoreboard with a three-run blast to cap off the seven-run inning. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 2 Hannah Forehand drew a walk and stole second. Georgia Blair doubled down the right field line to score Forehand.
BOT 5 Madi Perry drew a walk and stole second. A long sacrifice fly advanced Perry to third base, and a bunt single from Olivia Sinquefield scored Perry to give NGU a 3-0 lead.

The Braves will close out their road trip on Sunday in South Carolina when they face Anderson (10-2) for a non-conference matchup. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. at the AU Softball Complex.
