PEMBROKE – Visiting Georgian Court scored in five different innings and capitilized on six errors from the UNC Pembroke softball team to take the opening game 10-3 on Wednesday at the UNCP Softball Field. The Braves bounced back with a pair of homers from
Samantha Allred and
Marijo Wilkes to spark the offense and secure a split of the doubleheader 8-5 in game two.
The victory for the Braves in game two snapped a five game skid and marked the third win at home.
Riley Fox retired 13 of the 21 batters she faced in the back half of the twinbill.

Taylor Lipkins drew a walk and then stole second before scoring on a triple from Adriana Mungo. A deep sacrifice fly to right field gave the Lions and early 2-0 lead. |

UNC Pembroke put runners on first and second after back-to-back singles to the outfield grass from Chloe Hunsinger and Marijo Wilkes. Kadence Sheppard lit up the scoreboard with a three-run blast to cut the deficit back to 5-3. |

Kili Makanani got the inning started for Georgian Court with a double to center field, but it was Kiara Meikle who cleared the bases with a homer over the left field fence to push the lead out to 7-3. |

Marijo Wilkes found the outfield grass for a double and advanced to third after a sacrifice bunt from Kadence Sheppard. MaKenna Sibbett smacked an RBI double down the left field line to score Wilkes, followed by a Samantha Allred home run after the left field fence to give UNCP a 4-0 lead. |

Emily Rose drew a walk and moved to second after a single down the left field line from Chloe Hunsinger. A three-run blast from Marijo Wilkes pushed the lead to 7-0 for the Braves. |

Taylor Lipkins singled through the right side and scored on a triple from Adriana Mungo. Alyssa Herrera singled to the outfield gap to score Mungo. With runners on second and third after a wild pitch, Taylor Barraza singled to left field to score two runs. An ill-timed fielding error allowed another runner to score as the Lions now trailed 7-5. |
