Jacobs’ Gem Pushes No. 16 Baseball To Series Win At Southern Wesleyan

CENTRAL, S.C. – The 16th-ranked UNC Pembroke tacked up nine hits and six runs behind seven shutout innings from righthander Jonathon Jacobs as the Braves clinched their weekend series at Southern Wesleyan with a 6-1 win over the Warriors in Sunday's rubber match.
 
It was the seventh series win of the season for the Braves (21-5, 10-2 CC) who have now captured eight of their 10 road outings in 2023 as well. Southern Wesleyan (11-15, 6-6) fell to 9-5 at home this season with the setback, while also falling to 1-5 in the all-time series with the Black & Gold.
 
Jacobs (3-1) has now won three-straight starts after Sunday's gem that watched him scatter six hits across seven scoreless innings. He also struck out four batters.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 2 Joey Rezek reached on error to lead off the top of the second, and swiped second base to give the Braves their first scoring opportunity of the afternoon. Trent Harris took care of the rest when he smacked starter Steven Mufareh's offering over the fence in left field to give UNCP a quick 2-0 lead.
