Softball Has Big Offensive Day, Sweeps North Greenville

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team registered 17 hits across two games, four of which were home runs, to highlight an impressive offensive performance on the way to a key twinbill sweep over visiting North Greenville on Friday at the UNCP Softball Field.

The Braves tied up the opening game after a three-run sixth inning, and walked it off on a three-run blast from Lauren Hilbourn to win 11-10 in extra innings. Kaci Roberson's two-run homer in the fifth inning of game two proved to be a spark as UNCP won 3-0.

The outcome for the Braves marked just the second conference sweep of the season as UNCP is now 4-2 all-time against North Greenville. The Crusaders have now lost three out of their last four games and fall to 6-10 when playing on the road.
