Softball Drops Both Ends Of Twinbill At Catawba

SALISBURY – Catawba pounded out 24 hits and scored 14 times behind a pair of outstanding pitching performances to take both ends of its twinbill with the visiting UNC Pembroke softball team on Sunday afternoon at Whitley Field. The Indians tacked up runs in four different innings to post a 6-2 victory in the opener, and completed the twinbill sweep with a 8-0 win in the nightcap.
 
The setbacks dropped the Braves (5-14) to 1-7 away from Pembroke this season, while Catawba (13-7) tallied its sixth and seventh home wins of the campaign.

BOT 4 Catawba doubled their lead out to four runs with two more scores in the fourth. Elizabeth Parrish reached via a leadoff single, and Savanna Balderston punched across a run with a double in the ensuing at-bat. Kary Hales closed out the scoring inning with a two-out RBI single up the middle
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1 Catawba tacked up a trio of hits and benefited from a costly fielding error to post a pair of runs in the second. ??? Brendle reached base on a 1-out fielding error and was brought in on an ensuing RBI double from ??? Tucker. ??? Gallagher's RBI single two at-bats later closed out the scoring frame.
