No. 13/18 Baseball Takes Both Ends Of Twinbill With Lake Erie

PEMBROKE – The 18th-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team combined to register 23 hits and tack up multiple runs in five different frames on the afternoon as the Braves rallied behind high-strikeout performances from both of its starting arms to tally a doubleheader sweep of Lake Erie on Tuesday at Sammy Cox Field.

The Braves (15-4) scored early and often on the way to a 13-2 drubbing of Lake Erie (1-12) in the opener of Tuesday's doubleheader, and then used a lockdown defensive effort to finish off the sweep with a 7-1 win in the nightcap.

Freshman Kasen McCawley (2-0) recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and a lone earned run on the way to picking up the win from the mound in game one. Sophomore Evan McLean (2-0) struck out nine and surrendered four hits and one earned run through five innings of game two, while Jake Inman tallied five strikeouts in four scoreless innings of relief to notch his first save of the campaign.
