GREENVILLE, S.C. – The good news continued for the UNC Pembroke golf team on Friday afternoon when Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Year
Georgia Page was among four Braves to pick up all-conference honors, while head coach
Hannah Luckett was named the conference's coach of the year.
It is the 14
th-straight season that a UNCP golfer has picked up all-league accolades, and the ninth time that the Black & Gold has been represented by multiple players on the select squad. Page,
Amanda Hamrin and
Samantha DeBusk raked in all-conference honors for the second-straight season, while
Elizabeth Ritchie picked up the laurel for the first time.
A 3-time Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Week pick this season, Page was crowned as the league's golfer of the year for the second time in as many seasons on Friday. The Sydney, Australia, product averages a team-best 75.1 stroke average and has registered five top-20 finishes this season, including medalist honors at the Converse Invitational in November.
Ritchie, a Havelock native has registered a career-best 78.5 stroke average in 16 rounds of golf this season, and carded a 2-over-par 74 in the Bracket Challenge quarterfinals to topple then-61
st ranked Jill Schmitmeyer of 4
th-ranked Findlay. She also logged a career-best 9
th-place finish at the Barton Intercollegiate.
DeBusk has turned in a career-best 79.1 average this season, and is one of two players (Page) to compete in all 22 rounds in 2022-23. A native of Lexington, she shot a season-low 74 in the opening round of both the LeeAnn Noble Memorial and the Low Tide Intercollegiate. Her best finish of the season was at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate where she tied for 13
th place.
Hamrin has one top-20 finish this season, but it came at an extremely opportune time when she topped Page after two playoff holes to win medalist honors at the Conference Carolinas Championship on Tuesday. A native of Vasteras, Sweden, she joined Page on the all-tournament team at the league gala, and will take a career-best 78.1 stroke average into next month's NCAA South Super Regional in Gainesville, Ga.
Luckett was named the league's coach of the year for the second-consecutive season after leading the Black & Gold to another Conference Carolinas championship on Tuesday. The second-year UNCP skipper guided the team to top-10 finishes in all seven tournaments in 2022-23, including a pair of tournament titles and two runner-up showings.
