King Spoils Season Finale With Sweep Over Softball

BRISTOL, Tenn.-  The UNC Pembroke softball team struggled to get the offense started tallying just 10 hits as the Braves dropped the final regular season series to King on Friday afternoon at the King Softball Field. 
 
The Tornado used a leadoff double in the first inning followed by a single to the outfield to score the only run of the opening contest on the way to a 1-0 victory. A four-run third inning in game two padded the King lead for an 8-0 outcome in six innings to polish off the sweep.
 
The Braves (18-29, 11-11 CC) fall to 0-4 all-time against King and conclude the season with a 2-18 record when playing on the road. The Tornado (31-20, 16-6 CC) have won their last five contests and are 17-5 when playing at home.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 1 Jessica Campbell doubled to left field and score the only run of the game on a single to left field from Lauren Lawson. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 3 King loaded the bases after a pair of walks and a single up the middle. Carly Turner beat out an infield single that scored two runners, followed by a single though the right side from Samantha Helms to score another King runner. A deep sacrifice fly from Maggie Deel drove in a run and pushed the Tornado lead out to 6-0.
