Volleyball Falls To Gannon, Charleston At UC Invitational

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The UNC Pembroke volleyball struggled on offense on Saturday committing 16 attack errors against Gannon and suffered a 3-0 (17-25, 18-25, 8-25) loss on the final day of the UC Invitational. The Braves committed 21 attack errors against Charleston as the Golden Eagles defeated the Braves 3-0 (14-25, 18-25, 14-25) inside the Wehrle Innovation Center. 
 
The setback for the Braves (4-4) marked the third straight loss on the season. It was the first meeting with Gannon as well as Charleston.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 17-25 Gannon got off to a quick start taking an 8-4 lead, but a pair of kills from Vanja Przulj and Abby Peduzzi each knotted the score at 8-8. The Golden Knights put together four consecutive points and pushed their lead out to 22-14 and took the opening set after hitting .238 from the net.
SET 2 I 18-25 The Braves took a slight advantage, 16-15 after a kill from Abby Peduzzi. Gannon hit a match-high .429 from the net and rattled off six straight points to stay in control of the set. 
SET 3 I 8-25 UNCP struggled offensively making six attack errors and logging just six kills during the set. Gannon scored 10 straight points to take a 24-7 lead and hit .367 from the net to close out the match.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 14-25 Charleston scored 10 of the first 12 points of the match taking an early 10-2 lead off of a kill from Sage Bearnson. UNC Pembroke cut its deficit to 17-10 with a kill from Vanja Przulj, but the Golden Eagles hit a match-best .636 from the net to take the opening set. 
SET 2 I 18-25 UC capitalized on a UNCP attack error to take a 10-4 lead early in the set. The Braves offense started to click as the team went on four-point run to trail 19-18, but the Golden Eagles scored the next six points to take the set. 
SET 3 I 14-25 The hosts logged six kills in a row to stretch their lead out to 12-7. The Braves committed eight attack errors, while Charleston hit .500 from the net to take the final set.
