BRISTOL, Tenn. – Kaeleigh Cupples shattered the school record in the 100-yard Individual Medley to help the UNC Pembroke swimming team to a first-place finish at the King Invitational on Saturday. 

Cupples placed second in the event with a time of 1:02.82 to break Bianca Bateman's school record set in 2018 with a time of 1:07.61. 

UNCP won a total of six individual events on the final day of action at the invitational. Benedetta Pepe Pugliese got things starting winning the 400-yard Indivudual Medley with a time of 4:34.52, and winning the 200-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:20.81. Sara Woodruff took top honors in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a mark of 1:10.07, while Gabby Hyson claimed the 100-yard Butterfly touching the wall in 58.04. Britta Schwengle won the 200-yard Freestyle in a time of 1:57.65, while Fatima Portillo beat out the field in the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:08.02. 

The Braves will be back in action on November 2 when they travel to take on UNC Asheville. The meet will be held in the Justice Center Pool.
