PEMBROKE – Postseason honors continued for the UNC Pembroke swimming team on Tuesday when four student-athletes – Gretchen Gillenwater, Gabby Hyson, Sofia Pereira, and Luisa Rios – were all named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. 

The announcement marks the third consecutive season that the Black & Gold had been represented on the distinguished list. It is the second-straight season that four student-athletes have made the list.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must compete in four competitions or finish in the top eight at their respective conference meet. A student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. 

A native of Charlotte, Gillenwater has now earned the honor for the second consecutive season that the senior has earned the recognition and has a 3.6 grade point average and is majoring in geo-environmental studies. Hyson posts a 3.8 GPA as a business administration major, while Pereira maintains a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. Rios is majoring in biology and currently has a 3.9 GPA.
