PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke swim team won 12 events and broke five facilities records on the way to a 171-84 victory over Campbell on Saturday afternoon at the Sue Walsh Swimming Pool for the season opener.

It was the first home meet for the Braves since February 3, 2024. 

Britta Schwengle took top honors in the 200-yard Freestyle and broke the Sue Walsh Swimming Pool record touching the wall in a time of 1:53.63, while Benedetta Pepe Pugliese captured a first-place finish and broke her own facility record in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.13. Fabiana Pesce won both the 50 and 100-yard Freestyle events breaking the facility record in both events, while the 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Noelie Lacour, Naekeisha Louis, Britta Schwengle, Fabiana Pesce beat out the competition in a time of 1:35.99 to set the new facility record. 


The Braves will be back in action on October 18 when they travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., for the EU Invite. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. inside the Roberson Aquatic Center.
