BLUEFIELD, W. VA. – Bluefield State won the opening match, but UNC Pembroke would take the remaining nine, including five bonus-point wins to go along with two Bluefield State forfeits on the way to a 42-3 win in Conference Carolinas dual action Saturday afternoon.

The Braves (3-0, 3-0 CC) improved to 3-0 in the all-time series with the Big Blue (0-3, 0-3 CC).
 
Bluefield State took the opening match at 125 pounds, before Bryson Harper would give the Braves the lead for good with a major decision win at 133 pounds. Avery Buonocore stretched the lead with a decision victory, while ninth-ranked Jake Piccirilli added a major decision win in the 149-pound bout. Second-ranked 157 pounder Keegan Roberson tallied a pin, Aspen Talbot secured an overtime win at 165 pounds, and Will Lowery won via tech. fall in the 174-pound match. David Varner and Christopher Dickey picked up forfeit wins at 184 and 194 pounds, respectively, before Oggie Atwood closed out the dual with a tech. fall win in the heavyweight bout.

The Braves will be back in action Sunday as they compete in the King Open in Bristol, Tenn. Wrestling action is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
