LEXINGTON, VA. – Norman Junker took home first place in the men's 5000m, while Moureen Kimaiyo finished second in the women's 5000m to highlight Day 1 action on Friday at the VMI Winter Relays.

Junker crossed in 15:09.48 to take his event title, while Kelvin Kibet (15:26.56), Antony Kigen (15:26.88), Jack Phieffer (15:29.34), and Conrad Robertson (15:38.09) finished behind Junker to take a sweep of the top-five. Trent Brown sits in second place in the heptathlon with three events remaining after taking first in the long jump, and third in the 60m, high jump, and shot put. Travon Morrow, Calen McKinney, and Daniel Dawson each earned a berth into Saturday's 60m final to round out the action on the men's side.

Kimaiyo took second with a time of 18:12.87, while Carina Fiorucci placed third in the pole vault, with McKylee Mosby punching her ticket to Saturday's 60m hurdles final to highlight action on the women's side.

The Braves will wrap up action Saturday at the VMI Winter Relays, with events slated to begin at 10 a.m.
