BELMONT – 19th-ranked UNC Pembroke would take the first bout of the night, before Belmont Abbey would take eight of the remaining matches on its way to a 34-10 win in Conference Carolinas dual action Friday night inside the Wheeler Center.

The Braves (8-6, 6-2 CC) fell to 19-4 in the all-time series with the Crusaders (7-7, 7-1 CC).

With the match starting at 157 pounds, third-ranked Keegan Roberson stayed perfect on the season with a first-period pin, before Belmont Abbey took the following four bouts to take a commanding 18-6 lead. Oggie Atwood earned a major decision win in the heavyweight bout to briefly get the Braves back in it, but the Crusaders responded with wins in the final four matches to close out the victory. 

The Black & Gold will be back in action Sunday, February 2 as they hit the road to compete at the Newberry Open. Wrestling action is set to begin at 9 a.m. inside Eleazer Arena.
