Volleyball Knocks Off Ferrum In Conference Match

FERRUM, Va. – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team hit a match-best .464 in the fourth set to help fuel a 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-14) victory over Ferrum on Wednesday evening inside Swartz Gymnasium. 

The Braves (11-9, 8-4 CC) have now won their last two matches and tallied 11 service aces during Wednesday's victory. The Panthers (3-17, 1-13 CC) have now lost their last four matches and fall to 2-9 when playing at home.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 21-25 Emma Powell's kill put the Panthers on the board first, and they continued to capitalize on UNC Pembroke errors. Addie Decker provided a spark for the Braves with multiple kills, one at 14-13, yet Ferrum maintained their lead, driven by Renee Dove and Danielle Worthy. Despite a late push by UNCP, including service aces from Isabella Dillman, the Panthers secured the set with a 25-21 victory, concluding with an attack error by the Braves.
SET 2 I 25-19 In the second set, UNC Pembroke overcame an early deficit against the Panthers, who initially led 4-1 following a block by Catherine Bennett and a series of errors by the visitors. UNC Pembroke's Caterina Coronelli responded with three consecutive kills, leveling the score at 4-4. As the set progressed, UNC Pembroke built momentum with a series of plays from Abby Peduzzi and McKenna Hayes, eventually pulling ahead 16-12 after a successful run that included two service aces by Tyler Patterson. Despite the Panthers closing the gap to 23-19 with contributions from Bennett and Danielle Dove, UNCP secured the set with a service ace from Alexandria Mills.
SET 3 I 25-14 UNC Pembroke opened the third set with a service ace by Abby Peduzzi. The Braves maintained momentum through a series of kills by Addie Decker and Alexandria Mills, building a lead to 12-7. As the set progressed, Ferrum struggled with attack errors, which UNCP capitalized on, extending their advantage further. The set concluded at 25-14 with a block by McKenna Hayes and Tyler Patterson sealing the victory for the Braves.
SET 4 I 25-14 Caterina Coronelli and Alexandria Mills started strong, each delivering early kills. Abby Peduzzi contributed significantly with a service ace and multiple kills, assisting the Braves in building a substantial lead. Savannah Whaley and Addie Decker also added to the offensive effort, while Ferrum's errors, including multiple attack and setting errors, helped UNCP maintain momentum.
