Wrestling Drops Tight One To No. 25 King, Bounces Back With Win Over Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, TENN. – UNC Pembroke took an early lead over No. 25 King, but couldn't hang on en route to a 23-22 loss to the Tornado, but bounced back with a 52-3 win over Lincoln Memorial to pick up the split in Conference Carolinas dual action Saturday afternoon at Tex Turner Arena.

Logan Robinson, Avery Buonocore, and Nick Williams would each record bonus-point wins in the King match, while Cooper Davis, Don Edwards, Tyler Nelson, Williams, and Cristian Hercules-Pleitez would do the same in the Lincoln Memorial dual.

The Black & Gold will continue Conference Carolinas dual action Tuesday, December 2 as they host Coker for Military Appreciation Night. Wrestling action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

UNCP vs. #25 KING (L, 23-22)

Cooper Davis got the Braves on the board first with a decision win at 125 pounds, while eighth-ranked Logan Robinson followed with a first-period pin in the 133-pound bout to give the Black & Gold a quick 9-0 lead. After a King win at 141 pounds, Avery Buonocore (149 pounds) and Nick Williams (165) each tallied tech. fall victories with a decision win from 13th-ranked Keegan Roberson at 157 pounds sandwiched in between to make it 22-6. King would answer by taking the final four bouts to pull off the comeback and win 23-22.
 

UNCP AT LINCOLN MEMORIAL (W, 52-3)

Cooper Davis logged a first-period pin at 125 pounds, followed by Tyler Nelson's tech. fall at 157 pounds to give the Braves a 22-3 lead. Nick Williams and Cristian Hercules-Pleitez each added first-period pins to give UNCP the 52-3 win. The Black & Gold recorded forfeit wins at 133, 174, 184, and 197 pounds.
