Shaw's Isaiah Buckley contributed significantly with a layup and two assists, helping Shaw maintain a slender lead. In the closing stages of the half, Shaw's Darius Abraham completed a three-point play with 1:51 remaining, securing a 40-38 lead for the Bears as the teams headed into the locker rooms.
2ND HALF
In a closely contested second half, UNC Pembroke and Shaw exchanged leads multiple times. Joe'l Pettiford's early layup and subsequent free throw tied the score at 40, and Shaw quickly responded with Dreveon Scott's layup to regain the lead. Buckley was instrumental, contributing both in points and assists, including a crucial layup at the 8:52 mark that pushed their advantage to 68-66. Despite the UNC Pembroke effort to close the gap, with Moe Bangura and Nygell Verdier making key plays, Shaw maintained their edge.
