CARY– Fabiana Pesce and Sofia Pereira both registered an NCAA B Standard time, while the Braves put the cap on an impressive day with a big win in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay discipline, to highlight action at the Conference Carolinas Championships on Thursday.

Thursday's performance positioned the Braves in second place with 268.50 points. Emmanuel leads the eight-team event with 286 points through Thursday's events. Montevallo is in third with 242 points.
 
Pereira recorded an NCAA B Standard time in the 500-yard Freestyle finals to win the event after touching the wall in a time of 4:59.40. Pesce tacked up NCAA B Standard times in the 50-yard Freestyle prelims and finals, and finished the day in third place of the event with a time of 23.75. Benedetta Pepe Pugliese earned all-conference honors in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a third place finish in the event with a time of 2:08.67.
 
The quartet of Fabiana Pesce, Ting-Yu Pan, Britta Schwengle, and Naekeisha Louis edged out Emmanuel in the 2000-yard Freestyle Relay to take first place and set a school record with a time of 1:34.80. 
 
Friday's action at the 4-day event inside the Triangle Aquatic Center will get underway at 10 a.m. with the preliminary rounds of the 400-yard Individual Medley.
