Softball Drops Two On Final Day Of Brianna Surrento Kickoff Classic

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke softball team recorded five hits in the opening contest of the day against Rollins, but the Tars scored in five innings, including a four-run seventh inning to defeat the Braves 10-1 to start the day at the Brianna Surrento Kickoff Classic. 
 
UNCP scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning against Lander in the nightcap, but a three-run seventh innings and 12 total hits helped the Bearcats to a 7-6 victory to close out weekend competition.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 2 Katie Hogue lit up the scoreboard with a leadoff homer over the center field fence. 
TOP 7 Grace Germer and Jenna Borkey both reached via walks, but Jaden Walker sent one out of the park for a three-run home run. Marisa Edevane smacked one over the left field fence for a solo homer to give Rollins a 10-1 lead. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 6 The Braves put runners on the corner after Chloe Locklear reached on an error and a single to right field from Tiara Stueck. Kaitlynn Hunt beat out an infield single to score Locklear, followed by a two-run triple to the outfield gap from Alona Hanna to put UNCP ahead 6-4. 
BOT 7 Lander put runners on the corner with a single to right field from Linda Moore and a single up the middle from Reagan Hill. Emily Allen singled up the middle to score Moore, as the Bearcats would load the bases with a walk. Samantha Bumgarner reached on a fielder's choice which scored Hill, but a double to left field scored the winning run.
