Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NEWBERRY, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke softball team registered 13 hits, but Newberry scored multiple runs in three innings to take the opening game 9-8 on Thursday at the Smith Road Complex. 
 
The Wolves had eight hits in the back half of the doubleheader and completed the sweep with a 3-1 victory in game two. 
 
UNCP (3-8) has now lost its last six games and fall to 3-13 all-time when playing Newberry on the road. The sweep for the Wolves (3-9) snapped an eight-game skid and improve to 24-9 all-time against the Braves.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 3	Ella Stone drew a leadoff walk and scored on a double from Maddy Staples. Haidyn Campbell knocked a single into the left center field gap to score Staples. The Wolves loaded the bases with a pair of singles, and plated a run on an infield single.
TOP 5	Marijo Wilkes singles to the outfield gap and moved to third on a pair of groundouts. Chloe Locklear reached on an error to score Wilkes. A single through the left side from Kaitlynn Hunt put runners on first and second, as Locklear would score on a single down the right field line from Alona Hanna. Tiara Stueck loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch, and an ill-timed fielding error scored Hunt.
BOT 5	Marissa Valenzuela reached first on a bunt single, stole second, and stood on third after a sac bunt from Taylor Palfrey. A single to the shortstop from Mady Brown gave scored Valenzuela for an insurance run.
TOP 7	Alona Hanna singled to second base and scored on a double to left field from Kylie Johnson.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1	Taylor Palfrey beat out an infield single and moved to second on a wild pitch. A single up the middle from Mady Brown scored Palfrey for an early Newberry lead.
TOP 4	Samantha Allred singled through the left side to start the inning, followed by an RBI double to left field from Cayden Thomas to even the score.
BOT 4	Maddy Staples reached on an ill-timed error, and stood on third after a sacrifice bunt and a long flyout. A single up the middle from Bethany Pigg scored Staples.
