Baseball Falls To No. 7 Catawba In Midweek Contest

SALISBURY, N.C. – UNC Pembroke only allowed runs in two innings, but Catawba struck for five in each of them as the Braves fell 10-4 to seventh-ranked Catawba at Newman Park on Tuesday evening.

The Black & Gold cut the deficit to three in the top of the fifth, but the Indians answered with five runs in the bottom half to put the game out of reach.

Blake Hinson and Morgan Padgett each turned in 2-5 outings, with each driving in a run apiece.

The Braves (14-9) fell to 33-31 in the all-time series with the Indians (17-6).

UNCP will be back in action Friday as they host Mount Olive for a Conference Carolinas series. First pitch Friday is set for 4 p.m. Due to renovations still ongoing on Sammy Cox Field, the series will be held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary.
