Baseball Drops Series Opener To Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – UNC Pembroke took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a Jake Bradley solo homer, but Emmanuel would score the next eight runs to take an 8-1 win in the series opener Friday evening at Tommy Carey Field.

Spencer Ledford turned in a quality start for the Braves, going six complete and allowing just one earned run on four hits to go along with eight strikeouts.

Emmanuel's Noah Cantleberry went a career-high 8.1 innings and allowed just the one run on five hits to pick up the win for the Lions.

The Braves (20-11, 9-7 CC) fell to 6-4 in the all-time series with the Lions (15-18, 8-11 CC).

UNCP will be back in action Saturday as the two squads wrap up the series with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

TOP 4 Jake Bradley led off the frame with a solo blast to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
BOT 7 After Emmanuel tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning, the Lions would tack on seven more in the home half of the seventh on three hits, three walks, two wild pitches, and a UNCP error to take an 8-1 lead.
